Faux Verde Grand Marble: This fireplace surround substrate is wood yet appears to be fine Verde Grand Marble. A restauranteur in Santa Barbara commissioned George to create the faux Verde Grande marble to create a focal point in the dining room. To match the decor colors he used ocher, off-white and black pigments in the glazes. This fireplace is an excellent example of the convincing illusion of marble that paint can create.
