Lynne Rutter Murals and Decorative Painting

Paris Hotel

Paris Hotel Casino Resort, Las Vegas

A combination of techniques were employed to create this 900 square foot groin-vaulted ceiling mural, which features hand-painted trompe l'oil cartouches, and griffin-faced arabesques joined together by stenciled garlands and accents of 22 karat gold leaf. Most of the pieces of this mural were painted in the studio on flame-retardant muslin, carefully cut out, and then glued to the ceiling in a technique called “marouflage.”

By painting the more complicated elements in advance, we can minimize the amount of time needed on site. Though hundreds of hours went into the painting of this ceiling mural, Lynne and her crew were on the site scaffold for only one week.
