Hispano-Moresque style residence, San Jose (Photo 1) - Historic restoration of a Hispano-Moresque home and garden, respecting its historic architecture and blending it with new construction.
This house with its superb architectural detailing was brought back from decades of neglect, while expanding it into a comfortable home for three generations. From the restored wrought iron and glass porte-cochere at the entry with its counterpoint, a water sculpture at once natural and contemporary, this is a home of studied contrasts. The inner courtyard of boxwood lined beds frame orange and lemon trees which surround an antique Turkish marble fountain, creating a quiet oasis where herbs mix with roses. The adjacent garden room with its columns and arches reflects the home's original architecture while creating an active outdoor living space for a young family.
