Conservatory in an Italianate house (1876) in Alameda, CA. This peaceful skylit retreat was created by a recent addtion to the house, which also added a library on the floor below. A variety of painted finishes, including some effective trompe l'oeil effects (by George Zaffle) are combined with a cast stone fountain, and a small classical "temple" (designed by Erik Kramvik) that shields an orchid collection (photo from Victorian Glory.)
