Riley Doty — Doty Tile

tile installation

bathroom

Prior to WWII a common decorating scheme for bathroom floors consisted of tiling the central floor area one color, framing it with a decorative border, and then finishing the perimeter with tiles of a contrasting color. In this playful variation the border element is permitted to climb the skirting to the tub platform, altering the traditional rule that the tiled "carpet" be confined to the floor surface.
