Blue Seneca Tiles

Tiles that are hand made from wet clay — such as these blue glazed Seneca Tiles — show characteristic irregularities. This floor is set with joints so narrow that individual tiles literally cannot all stay within the confines of the grid. Instead they "run wild" in a celebration of their informality — which is exactly the effect that the clients desired. (The polychrome liner was supplied by a southern California studio whose designs follow those of the historic Malibu Potteries.)
