This mural is based on a mural designed by the 18th century English architect Robert Adam for a dressing room at Osterley Park. The original mural was inspired by Adam's grand tour and the ancient paintings he saw at Pompeii and Herculaneum, which had just recently been discovered. My adaptation of it was painted directly onto 100-year-old plaster with acrylic paints.
